The Isolator / disconnector are mechanically operated type of safety device incorporated for isolation of system.Open position provides safe and desired isolation. Hence forth they are widely applicable in High voltage installations, transmission and distribution layouts for isolation of part or complete system for carrying maintenance, repairs and similar activities where the system has to be isolated from primary circuit.

Testing Approval
Testing Carried out at CPRI laboratory (Banglore). The following type test are cleared in accordance with IS-9921 / IEC-60129 / IEC - 62271 - 102
  • Short circuit test.
  • Temperature rise test.
  • Milli volt drop test.
  • Impulse with stand.
  • Power frequency dry test.
  • Power frequency wet test.
  • Mechanical endurance test.
  1. Design with technical excellence and free from maintenance.
  2. Constructionally robust and sturdy.
  3. Well achieved consistency in contact pressure and contact resistance over a long period.
  4. Adjustable horn bars provided to ensure streamline engagement and disengagement of moving blade with fix contact.
  5. Can with stand high static loads without deflection.
  6. Provision of individual stopper for alignment of moving blade with fixed contact on each phase.
  7. Environmental protection for mechanism is assured by "CLOSED CANOPY" design’s completely encapsulating the TURN TWIST mechanism eliminating entry of rain water, snow, dust or any kind of foreign material which would otherwise result in improper functioning of isolator.
  8. Operationally both banging as well as turn twist design are very smooth.
Operating Mechanism
Isolators mains and earth switch both are equipped with single operating mechanism to operate individually. Isolators are equipped with manual or motorized operating mechanism mounted underneath base and operating handle, operating box at accessible height. A common operating mechanism is designed which incorporates tandom pipe for all three phase for mains and similar for earth switch. Individual phases can be aligned to achieve required contact by sliding required assemblies of phases on tandom pipe.
Manual operating mechanism:
Manual operating mechanism is provided with operating handle.
  1. Operating boxes confirming to IP - 55 & IP - 67 grade are provided and fabricated out of MS sheet (powder coated / painted).
  2. Interlocking arrangement (i.e. earth).
  3. Safety locks for both Mains and Earth in Open and close position alternately.
Motorized operating mechanism:
  • Motor and reduction worm gear are coupled to increase the out put torque.
  • Over load protection provided.
  • Remote control can be provided optional.
  • Certified auxiliary switches are incorporated.
  • Operating boxes confirming to IP-55 grade are provided and fabricated out of MS sheet (powder coated / painted).
  • Interlocking arrangement.
  • Safety locks for both Mains and Earth in Open and close position alternately.
Major assemblies and sub assemblies of isolators and earth switches carried in house. All three individual phases aligned and assembled on respective base. Separate guide for installation provided will ensure easy, safe, trouble free and fast installation without use of specialize tools.
Main installation to be done on site
  1. Erection of structure.
  2. Mounting of individual phase on structure .
  3. Mounting earth switch and operating mechanism on structure.
  4. Connection for supply,Braided copper flexible's and terminal connectors.
  • Design of isolators are totally maintenance free. But considering safety of operation in future we recommended inspection over a period of at least 5 years.
  • Inspection can be done visually or by equipments depending upon criticality, Available modes of equipments and future requirements, operational / non operational period.
  • Lubrication can be done in idle period through grease / oil cups provided for parts in rotary motion.
